Are you "LIVING TO LIVE, or LIVING
TO DIE?"
by Mark McFeely, Bodymind Transformation® Consultant.
"Are you living to live, or living to die?"
Have you made a clear decision about this?
Have you even considered that you might have a choice?
As long as death is considered inevitable there can be no lasting cures,
and healing is just another game for getting through life.
There have been many miracle cures of serious illnesses, such as Cancers
and Multiple Sclerosis, etc. As long as a person has a goal, it can be
achieved, especially with support from others. Too often though, when
the condition and the threat to life have been removed, the person dies
some time later, of a recurrence, or some other cause, even from what
may be considered "Natural causes". Those people die because
the focus is on the disease, rather than on creating a quality of living
that they would want to live. There is support for overcoming the condition,
but not for them to really live. Once the emergency is over, all the support
and nourishment is withdrawn.
Picture this scenario: A family member, or dear friend has been diagnosed
with a terminal condition. Relatives and friends display brave fronts.
Expressing how well that person is looking, and that it won't be long
before they are out and about again, and even speaking of visiting old
favourite places in the near future. These expressions are all well meant,
but futile when the body language states loudly, "Gosh! You're going
to die!" What if they let him know that they wanted him to really
choose to live, and that they were prepared to do whatever it took to
keep his life. People die because we let go of them, and make it alright
to leave. Death starts before it is obvious. It starts when that person
feels that he is not necessary, that he is not needed or cared about by
others, and that he is dispensible.
Many have been immortalized in stories of their bravery, and their tremendous
struggles to overcome their illnesses, but sadly their immortality is
only a memory. The support may have been great, but as long as the people
around them subscribed to the consciousness that death is inevitable,
they never had a chance for a real and permanent cure. These are simply
examples of attempts to control how, and when death occurs, in the face
of apparent inevitability.
The death of an "old timer" who has had a good life, is quite
acceptable if it is quick and painless, as is the merciful death that
ends a long illness. This glorifies death as a welcome solution and a
release. We are so conditioned to think of death as a natural part of
the process of evolution, and accept the concept of new life arising from
death. This illusion helps overcome the pain of loss. This is particularly
obvious concerning children and the continuation of the family tree. There
is a sense of consolation and compensation at times of bereavement, when
there is an heir to replace the deceased. The existence of an heir gives
licence to die. During the course of my work with many who were diagnosed
as terminally ill, I have asked what they would consider successful healing.
In most cases their objective was to stay alive long enough to witness
an event relating to the security of a family member. The most common
examples being; birth of a grandchild, wedding or graduation of a son,
daughter, or grandchild. There is greater investment in the continuation
of the family name than in the continuation of one's own life.
To really live, it is essential that you claim every cell of your body.
There is a very physical meditation which I use regularly. This keeps
me in touch with every cell of my body, rather than taking me out of it.
It is particularly good at showing up areas in me that I tend to neglect
or deny, and allows me to choose to be whole (healed). The physical body
is where one can really experience one's own vastness. This focus on the
body is often mistaken for a denial of spirit, but it is not so. To experience
total aliveness, it is necessary for body, mind, emotions and spirit to
be in unison. Anything less is a mockery of your own wholeness. When I
speak of you, or your body, I am addressing you as a total entity.
Many people ask,`Why even mention death?' Saying that death does not exist
for them, or that it is not the end, but a transition. Death has been
made so palatable in the "New Age". Well, I want you to know
that you do not have to die to evolve. Death is the ultimate leaving of
one another. Sickness, disease, aging and accidents are merely the means
for that departure. The surest way to free yourself of these conditions
is to choose to really live, and seek out others who support your aliveness.
The reasons for creating those exits to death are usually related to feelings
of separation, unworthiness, lack of intimacy, fear of rejection or of
being too much, not enough, or simply, fear of living.
I am not intimidated by any condition I am presented with in my healing
sessions. I am used to witnessing what might well be termed miracles.
I know that it is the power of one another, released and directed by our
mutual agreement, along with our total committment to our living together
without limitation, that rids the body of any condition that would even
hint of death. Together we can create the safety to live fully, and be
everything that we are. We can get off the wheel of life and death, take
healing all the way, and start celebrating who we really are.
Together we can create a new reality. We can have heaven here on Earth.
Each human being is so unique and vital, regardless of age, race, colour,
nationality, creed. No-one is dispensable. Make the choice now. End the
hold of death. Start living to live!
